COVERAGE
This RockSolid Floors Kit provides the materials generally required to cover 275 SQ. FT. or a standard single car garage. The coverage of the coating is dependent on the porosity of the concrete being coated and the application technique. It is imperative to utilize a helper during the coating process. One person will brush in the edges while the other is rolling.
CONDITIONS
Before you begin the process of preparing the floor for coating it is important to follow the following steps to ensure proper
adhesion
Testing for sealer
You need to determine if the concrete has been previously sealed by utilizing a simple test of pouring a small amount of water onto the surface of various areas of the floor. If the water beads, a sealer is present and needs to be either chemically or mechanically removed with a diamond grinder available at a local rental store.

Previously coated floors
If the floor has been previously coated, you need to determine if the coating is well-adhered to the surface. You can re-coat over the previous coating if you scuff sand using 40-80 grit sand paper and wipe the surface down with Acetone.
Testing for coating adhesion
1. With a razor blade, cut an X through the coating and down to the concrete.
2. Apply a 5" piece of duct tape over the X and press down firmly.
3. Completely remove the tape with one quick pull.
4. If more than 10% of the taped area is removed, the original coating is not bonded well and needs to be removed chemically or mechanically with a diamond grinder.
WARNING! If you sand or remove old coatings, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS
SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Testing for moisture
Apply a 3' x 3' sheet of plastic (such as a heavy duty garbage bag or plastic sheeting) to an area of the floor. Tape down the edges with duct tape and allow it to sit for 24 to 48 hours. If water droplets appear on the inside of the plastic or if the concrete appears wet (darker in color), the moisture in the concrete is high. The slab should be waterproofed with RockSolid Polymatrix Gel Waterproofing prior to coating. See www.rocksolidfloors.com for this product and installation instructions.
Temperature Extremes
The ideal temperature range when working with primer-body coat is 40°F-90°F (4°C-30°C). Warmer temperatures can shorten working time. Cooler temperatures
will require longer cure times. Humidity can also affect the dry time of the primer-body coat. Higher humidity will shorten the pot-life of the material and may cause it to set quicker. For installations in high humidity, we suggest that you enlist the help of another person to apply the material to the floor faster.
Note: If it is raining, or if extremely damp conditions exist, coating
is not recommended.
Concrete Inspection
Concrete is different in many areas of the country. Some concrete is especially hard and will require extra etching to provide an anchor for your primer-body coat. If you have soft and chalky con¬crete, RockSolid Floors recommends diamond grinding the surface with 20-50 grit diamonds to remove the soft fines. For areas of the concrete that have spalling, chipping or cracking, use the RockSolid Fast Patch Kit to repair and level out the floor prior to coating. This material will be available wherever you purchased your Rock Solid kit or at www.rocksolidfloors.com
Concrete Preparation
The RockSolid Floors Safe Etch Solution is used to open the pores of the concrete thus providing the proper adhesion required for a long lasting floor. The etching is required on ALL uncoated concrete floors, whether old or new. The etching is NOT used to clean the concrete; cleaning is done prior to the etching using a professional grade degreaser available at your local hardware store. Utilizing a pressure washer in areas with contamination would be recommended as well. Please make sure to wear the proper protective equipment and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Thoroughly sweep out all the dust and dirt on the floor and apply a mist of water to the surface. The concrete should accept the water evenly and consistently across the entire surface to be coated. If there are areas of beading on the surface, it represents a possible contaminate (oil, wax or tire dressing). These areas need to be cleaned with a full concentrate of a professional grade degreaser. Scrub the area with a stiff bristled broom, rinse and inspect again. If water continues to bead on the surface, re-treat the stain and scrub again until water no longer beads in that area. Once you have determined that water is no longer beading on the surface, you are now ready to etch the concrete. Please see recommended safety practices located on the container. Wearing gloves and protective eyewear, slowly add one quart of the professional Etch Solution to 3 quarts of water in a plastic watering can (1 gallon total). Working in a 10' x 10' section of the floor, pour out the etching solution evenly on the floor. Scrub the solution around with a stiff bristle broom. The etching solution should fizz for about 4-5 minutes while being scrubbed.
If the concrete does not fizz it means that there is a sealer on the floor and MUST be chemically or mechanically removed as previously discussed.
When fizzing stops, hose off the solution and move on to the next section. When all sections are completed, rinse three times while scrubbing with a stiff bristle broom. A wet/dry vacuum should be used to accumulate all the water. To speed up the process, use a floor squeegee to push excess water to the center of the floor, then vacuum up. Do not leave pooled water on the floor. Let the floor dry at least 2 hours with a fan operating to move air over the surface. Note: See bottle for recommend disposal.
It is imperative that the floor be completely dry before applying any coatings. Failure to follow this warning will create application issues and possible product failure.
Mixing - Do not mix the decorative chips with the coating.
NOTE: NEVER mix more than half of the kit at a time.
1. Place a tarp on the ground and thoroughly shake the Rock Solid Primer-Body Coat parts A and B
2. Remove the lids of both sides and mix separately with a paint stir stick until uniform.
3. Utilizing the calibrated 2.5 qt. mixing containers, measure 20 oz. of the Primer-Body Coat Part A and add 40 oz. of the Primer-Body Coat Part B. Remember, it is imperative to only mix half of a kit at a time. Use the supplied paint stir stick to mix the combined materials for a minimum of 2 minutes, making sure to scrape the sides of the container and blend thoroughly. The pot-life of the material is 20 minutes. It will be important to utilize a helper to brush in edges while the second person is rolling.
Application
Pour the mixed material into an 18" paint tray, keeping a small amount in the mixing container for brushing in edges. Using a 3" paint brush, cut the material in around the perimeter on half the area to be coated. Fully saturate an 18" roller and apply material in 4' x 4' sections in a thin and even coat across the floor using an "M & W" pattern. This pattern will provide the most uniform results and ensure that the material will spread over the desired area. Once a strip across the entire back wall has been coated, you may broadcast the RockSolid Floors Decorative Chip if desired. The performance of the coating will not be affected with or without chip - it is simply a decorative touch to enhance the look of the coating. It is important when broadcasting the chip to leave yourself a "wet edge." This is a 6"-12" section of the coated floor that will not receive chip until the next section of coating is applied and rolled into the "wet edge," allowing for a seamless application. Once the next section has been rolled you may broadcast chip again and continue this system throughout the floor, cutting in edges as you go. Mix the remaining half of the kit only after the first batch is completely applied to the floor. Do this quickly to avoid having material dry on the roller.
Cure Time
Depending on temperature and humidity the average cure time is 6-8 hours for foot traffic. The average return to service time for moving belongings back in is 24 hours.
Allow the coating to cure a minimum of 48 hours for vehicle traffic.
Clean-Up
Dispose of rollers and brushes. Allow unused product to harden and dispose according to local regulations.
Safety Information
AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES
Wear protective gloves when working with this product. For skin contact, use a minimal amount of solvent such as acetone to remove coating prior to hardening.
FIRST AID: In case of contact with eyes, flush liberally with cold water for 10-15 minutes. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Contact physician immediately.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY. STORE IN A COOL, DRY PLACE OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

La Preparación concreta

Es imprescindible que el piso sea completamente seco antes de aplicar cualquier capa. El fracaso para seguir esta advertencia creará asuntos de aplicación y fracaso posible de producto.
Mezclar

1. Coloque un alquitranado en el suelo y sacuda completamente las partes Sólidas como una roca de Abrigo de Pintura BASE-Cuerpo UNA y B
2. Quite las tapas de ambos lados y mezcle separadamente con un palo de conmoción de pintura hasta uniforme.
3. Utilizar el calibró 2,5 Qt. mezclando contenedores, la medida 20 oz. de la Parte de Abrigo de Pintura BASE-Cuerpo UN y agrega 40 oz. de la Parte de Abrigo de Pintura BASE-Cuerpo B. Recuerde, es imprescindible sólo mezclar la mitad de un juego a la vez. Utilice el palo suministrado de conmoción de pintura para mezclar las materias combinadas para un mínimo de 2 minutos, asegurándose para raspar los lados del contenedor y la mezcla completamente. La olla-vida de la materia es 20 minutos. Será importante utilizar a un ayudante para cepillar en orillas mientras la segunda persona arrolla.
La aplicación
Vierte la materia mezclada en una 18" bandeja de pintura, manteniendo una pequeña cantidad en el contenedor mezclado para cepillar en orillas.
